Yesterday we went on a field trip to Dayton to see the Dayton Aviation Historic Park and then we went on a canal boat trip at Piqua.

There’s Nothing Soft About My Game
By: K.P.
I love fast pitch so much! It is my favorite sport in the world. Did you know that over 1 million girls in the U.S. play softball every summer? Yeah, it’s pretty amazing!
I have played softball for eight seasons and plan to continue playing. For the second year now I have played travel or club softball. I like it a lot it is so much fun to travel around and meet new girls. It’s a long process to become a club softball player.
The first step in the process is knowing the fundamentals and knowing the game. So in the summer you should really work hard and maybe go to the
Local batting cages. Next, find out when your local teams are holding their try-out sessions. Even if you’re scared don’t be; if you don’t make keep working and then there’s always next year. You may want to try out for several teams so if you don’ t make one you might make the other. Usually a try-out is just like a practice except some of the girls might not do as well as others.
Once you make the team you start practices and maybe do stuff with the girls on your team. Like my team had a night where we went and bowled and ate pizza. We had a blast! My biggest fear of joining the team was meeting and getting to know the other girls. But you’ll do fine just be yourself and act normal.
Practices are mostly helping you stay healthy and stay in shape. You do A LOT I mean A Lot of conditioning like running, agility, and stuff like that. At the beginning of practice you usually stretch, run and throw with partners. Then we work on fielding and batting in the cages and off tees and soft toss. We work every Sunday from 5:30 to 7:00 and when I say we work I mean we WORK! At the end of practice we do either full court suicides or agility courses. After all of the practicing and hard working it all pays off at tournaments and maybe even a shot at nationals!
So that goes to prove that there is NOTHING soft about my game…….. SOFTBALL!!!
If SOFTBALL were easy it would be called…….. BASEBALL!!
A Softball Players Prayer

The Ball Player’s Prayer
by Hal Skinner
God grant me wisdom,
to tell a strike from a ball,
to know where to throw
and never to fall.
Keep me always in the base line,
running straight and true
and I’ll look for your sign,
to stretch one into two.
God give me vision,
to see every pitch,
so if a player needs help,
then I will see which.
Let me always hustle,
so I’ll be at my best
and take pride in myself,
in sports and the rest.
God be my strength,
when I throw the ball
when I’m far from home plate,
or against a wall.
So I never miss a base,
please guide my feet,
bring me home safely,
so my job is complete.
When I help younger players,
let me always give praise,
so they’ll see you in me,
in all of my ways.
God please guide our coach,
to be fair and smart,
to teach us to be good,
let it come from his heart.
Let me take a loss,
just as well as a win,
to do any less,
is surely a sin.
As long as I can play,
let me make my parents proud,
as proud as I am,
when they yell my name out loud.
However my games end,
let me always have fun
and if Heaven has All Stars,
I want to be one.
When my games here are over
and my seasons are done,
let me play on your team.
just like your son.
Amen.

Life in the sixth grade
Life in the sixth grade. In the sixth grade there is a lot of drama. you and your friends will fight. But you guys will become friends again. Sometimes it feels like the drama never ends. Once you think that it has stopped it really hasn’t.
Sometimes is we having a lot of homework and sometimes we don’t. there is no homework on the weekends. I love to read. I get the best grade in reading. Math is what I get the worst grade in. I pay attention but I just don’t get it. English I love English. Mrs. Welker is my English teacher she is the best teacher.
There is more to a sixth grade life but I have to end the story.
The end!

The Snow Storm
By: R.G.
One snowy March day I was sitting in the middle of 2nd period when it started snowing. We all watched as the white tornados whirled though the steamed windows, wind howling like wolves at a full moon. Our teacher told us to quit looking and turn around so we could work on our projects. Once we started working on our projects, I looked up and noticed that the windows were not just covered by steam, they were covered in snow. I ran out of the class and down to the main doors to see if it was just window. But it wasn’t! As I was running down the hall, I stopped for a quick second at, each classroom to look at their windows and they were ALL covered in the same white, fluffy snow. Once I got down to the doors I tried to open them but I could only get it open enough to feel the wind. The crack was so small that a mouse couldn’t even get though.
We were trapped! Locked in school!!!
I ran back up the steps and burst into my best friend Isabelle’s class. Everyone looked back as fast as they could with surprised looks on their faces.
“We’re locked in!!!!!!!” I yelled into the silent room
“What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Isabelle yelled
She jumped out of her chair as fast as she could and ran over to me. She jerked my arm so hard I thought it was going to pop off, and started pulling me out of the room. We ran back down the stairs to the door so she could see for herself. Sure enough, we were locked in!
“Do you hear that?” asked Isabelle with her voice shaking.
“Yeah…I do hear that. What do you think it is?” I asked still listening to the mysterious sound coming from beyond the doors
“I don’t quite know… I wander how deep the snow is.” Then she paused
“OMG! I think I know what it is!! That sounds like a person that is trapped under all the snow, trying to yell for help but the snow is muffling their cries!!!!”
At the same time we both backed up and rammed the door until it came open enough so we could get through. We brushed the snow away from the ground all over the two buildings but still, we did not find anything or anyone.
It was not until we got back inside that I realized that we did not check behind the bars that block off the windows. I grabbed Isabelle’s arm and started running for the door. When we got outside she asked
“Why did you pull me back out here?”
“Because we did not check everywhere!!!” I said pointing toward the railings. Without any other words being said she jumped over the railing and started scooping the snow away with her hands.
“Stay up there and if I find something or someone you can help me get it out of here!!” she said still searching
I stood there looking helplessly down at Isabelle. Then all of a sudden she stopped, looked up at me and said
“I found someone!!!!”
She took the person and lifted her up to me
“Stay here and take care her. I am going to go get my cell phone and call 911!!”
After about 3 minutes we saw the flashing lights and heard the sirens.
